New Danville is a 501(c)(3) non-profit rural community situated on a beautiful 42-acre ranch in Willis, Texas. Our mission is to provide adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (our "Wranglers") the opportunity to live, learn, work, and grow in a community of their choice. As a Maintenance Technician here, you aren't just fixing buildings; you are helping maintain a safe, joyful environment that empowers our residents to lead independent and purposeful lives.
The Role
We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Maintenance Technician/Handyman to manage the upkeep of our campus. This includes several learning and administration buildings, as well as 10 residential apartment buildings (housing 36 residents). You will work under minimal supervision to ensure all facilities, vehicles, and grounds equipment are in top working order.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilities Maintenance: Perform general building repairs, painting, and minor plumbing (fixing leaks, unclogging drains, etc.).
- Preventative Care: Conduct routine tasks such as changing light bulbs, ballasts, and AC filters.
- Equipment & Fleet: Perform light maintenance on facility vehicles, golf carts, and tractors.
- Safety & Grounds: Ensure the ranch remains safe for residents and staff; assist with campus expansion projects or small animal care facilities (e.g., our chicken coop) as needed.
- Team Support: Occasionally assist with other tasks to support the Day Program and residential services.
Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience in general maintenance, construction, or a related handyman role.
- Skills: Proficiency in minor plumbing, mechanical repairs, and general "fix-it" tasks. Experience operating a tractor is a significant plus.
- Driving & Background: Must be 25 or older with a clean background check and a valid driver’s license (clean driving record required).
- Attitude: Reliable, professional appearance, and the ability to work independently.
- Availability: Hours are Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; occasional (rare) evening or weekend work may be required for emergency repairs.
