Luminary Lecture: How to Communicate and Connect, to Turn Romantic Love into Real Love

About our speakers: Alana and Steve Monroe share their experiences and the tools they use to cultivate enduring connection and build a resilient marriage and family. Alana and Steve moved to Conroe, Texas in 2021, after working as actors, for over 30 years in Hollywood, California. They are still active entertainment professionals, and Steve has worked as a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice since 2016, and currently has an office in The Woodlands.

Among the key points will be the following:

• “Love is not blind; it is visionary” – We seek and find in our partners the very conflict we have yet to resolve within ourselves.
• Where there is empathy, there can be intimacy.
• With communication tools, we can learn to “talk it out” rather than “act it out.”
• Relationships have the capacity to either exacerbate pain or heal pain.
